Personal Hygine…please have some!
There is nothing words than standing in line at the supermarket, movie theatre, bank or sitting next to someone on a 5 hour flight that has no concept of personal hygine! The smells alone make you want to vom! Not to mention the dirty looking skin and hair!
What happened to the good old days where people went out they looked respectable (and hats…propert hats…why don’t men wear them anymore. When did they stop being cool?)
Not saying it should only be done for the benefit of other people, but for yourself! to be clean and healthy. Doesn’t everyone feel better when they’re clean? Im not talking about being in a sterile state, but a fresh state.
So do it for yourself…
And also for others, so we don’t have to put up with it!
Just sayin…
President Obama Llama? Genius. I will call him that forever more.
Toursim…It’s never dull!
So, as you probably gathered, I work in tourism. Specifically an outback Australia Tourist Information Centre. It’s summer right now, so it’s pretty quiet. But not for long…
Soon they will start rolling in. The grey nomads, the backpackers, families on school holidays, families not on school holidays. And then come the questions. Seriously, sometimes it’s takes all my strength not to roll my eyes and slap them across the face for being so silly. Some of the best I have had include:
“Do you have power there, or do I need a generator?” No, please bring your own power supply. Our town of 25,000 people has no power
“Do you have roads?” Again, no. All the trucks that pass through here on one of the countries major highways drive through the bush with not even a dirt track to get to where they’re going!
I also just LOVE the people who walk in the doors, up to the desk and say just one word, like..”Camping” or “Tours” No question, no nothing, just a one word statement. Instead of launching into the spiel about caravan parks and whatnot, because I actually know what they want, I tend to just look at them, until they actually ask me a question. Look guys, I know you might have travelled for hours, are tired, hungry and in dire need of a shower, but come on, it doesn’t take mass amount of energy to simply say “Can you tell me where the caravan parks are” Don’t just one word me like some sort of caveman!
Seriously..this is what we put up with.
And then there’s the people who want EVERYTHING for free. Campsites, attractions, discounts on souvinirs for no other reason other than they spent all their superannuation on their caravan, setting it up, and now only have enough money left for fuel. Well, you didn’t think that out very well did you? Then they get shitty and all narky towards you when you tell them there’s about 3 things to do for free. I mean, you didn’t seriously ecpect our 3 hour tour to be free did you? No, we need to be paid, our guides need to me paid, and we have to maintain our equipment so we can keep this tour going for you. Nothing is free anymore, because most people won’t work for free. Not with bills, mortgages and other things to pay for!
But don’t think that I hate this work, because it’s on most of the time. You can meet some really interestin people from all over the world, who just love to tell you all about their home country (which is nice to listen to, permitting you dont have 45 other people waiting to be served!) It’s even better if it’s a country that you would someday like to visit.
‘END RANT”
